Rajanarsimha all set to be the Deputy CM

HYDERABAD: The Congress Central leadership has almost finalised Minister for Higher Education Damodar Rajanarsimha, a Dalit belonging to the Telangana region, as the candidate for the Deputy Chief Minister’s post. The issue of appointing a person to the post has been hanging fire for the last five months.
AICC general secretary and incharge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad, at a meeting with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in New Delhi this evening, is understood to have informed the Chief Minister of the Congress high command’s decision to appoint Rajanarsimha as the Deputy CM. Discussions were also held on issues pertaining to the appointment of Assembly Speaker, Council Chairman and APCC president, and appointment of chairpersons and members to various corporations and committees. The meeting lasted for about 45 minutes.
The Chief Minister is expected to have another round of discussions with Azad on Monday.
Issues concerned with action pending against party rebel MLAs and others loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy, cabinet expansion/ reshuffle to accommodate PRP members, filling up of vacant MLC seats under the Governor’s quota etc. are expected to figure in the talks. Separate Telangana issue is also expected to be discussed. Kiran Kumar Reddy will return to the state capital by Monday evening.
